It would be an understatement to say that I am excited about this new endeavor I am undertaking here on TombRaiderBLOG. It has been a long road with the Tomb Raider franchise, but I believe that I have found the perfect way to utilize my knowledge and my opinions about this game. A little more about me I believe is in order. голова болит секс

I found out about the series in 2000 when Tomb Raider: Chronicles came out. I saw a commercial on TV and I decided I had to have it. When I got stuck in the game (very early on in the first level), I joined Eidos’ Official Forums. That was February 2001. I became heavily involved in the franchise and shortly after opened my own website, which garnered only mild popularity, but was an educational process nonetheless.

In February 2003 I abandoned my website when I was invited to join a then-fledgling Belgian Tomb Raider site, TombRaider.BE, that had just added an English section to their forums. Now, nearly 6 years later, I’m a board supervisor of TombRaiderBOARD and a webmaster on TombRaiderINC. And now, I am the main contributor to TombRaiderBLOG.

I haven’t been here since the beginning of this franchise, but I have played all the games and I do have a decent knowledge base of the history. I have been heavily involved with the last three releases (Legend, Anniversary and Underworld) because of my the work with the websites, so I am not an uninformed outsider looking to shake things up based on unsubstantiated opinions.

But don’t take all that information as a sign that I am going to be easy in my assessment in the future of this franchise. I have witnessed serious flaws in these games. I cannot personally attest to who or what is at fault (that doesn’t mean I will not assign any blame), but I know that the last game put out was not what it needed to be, and there are serious risks of ruining a franchise that I enjoy very much so, and have dedicated 8 years of my life to.

So over the next couple weeks I will be offering my personal opinion on several different aspects of the series and where I think it needs to go. You may not agree with everything I say, and that’s fine. What do you do if that’s the case? You can either a) make a comment to that blog posting or b) send in your own blog commentary with your opinion. Refer to [need to make this] for information about submitting your own blogs.

Eidos Interactive released a trading update today regarding holiday 2008 sales. They noted that while Tomb Raider: Underworld has charted well in European territories, sales in North America have been lower, citing that the current economic situation has retailers “restricting inventory levels and triple-A products being price discounted above [Eidos'] expectation.” These changes have caused Eidos to modify their sales assumptions for Tomb Raider: Underworld and adjust their revenues for the year from £180m-£200m. to £160m-£180m.

Tomb Raider: Underworld, the latest installment in the Tomb Raider franchise, was released in North America on 18 November 2008 and 21 November 2008 in the UK and Europe.
